Introduction

In a world filled with endless possibilities, there exists a hidden treasure, eagerly awaiting discovery. It is not buried in a faraway land or guarded by ferocious dragons, but it resides within the vast reaches of your own mind. This treasure is the power to learn, grow, and unlock the incredible potential that lies within you. Imagine for a moment a world where learning is not a chore, but an exhilarating journey.

Picture yourself flying through the skies of knowledge, traversing landscapes of imagination, and diving deep into the ocean of wisdom. Every step you take leads you to new horizons, where mysteries are unraveled, and dreams take shape.

In this magical book, “Learning How to Learn,” we will wide open the secrets of how our brains work and learn together. You see, every time you learn something new, your brain builds connections, like tiny bridges, that allow information to flow freely from one place to another. It’s like creating a map of your own mind!

In this magical world, we meet a collection of inquisitive individuals, our authors, who are on the verge of undertaking an exceptional journey - an expedition to discover the mysteries of education and open their utmost capabilities.

The first one, Mrs. Oakley has an amazing life. She met her husband Mr. Oakley while working in Antarctica. They have two daughters and two adopted sons from Kosovo. Mrs. Oakley originally wanted to be a linguist but joined the Army and studied Russian. She later studied engineering and became a professor focusing on neuroscience and social behavior. Her work has been widely recognized. Then comes Terrence Sejnowski, a super smart person who works at a special place called the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. He also teaches at a really cool school called the University of California, San Diego. Terrence is a really important person because he helps the government with something called the BRAIN initiative. He’s also the boss of a special group called the Neural Information Processing Foundation. That’s a big title! And our third hero is Alistair McConville, who works at Bedales School in England. He helps make learning fun and teaches different subjects. He likes studying how the brain works and how it helps us learn. He writes about education and speaks at conferences. Outside of work, he takes care of animals and has three kids. He recently passed a Chemistry test. Great, isn’t it? So, if you are ready to join our group of extraordinary adventurers, let’s start.
