Readers are Leaders

Welcome back incredible BookDuck listeners! Of course, you will agree with us if we say that reading is a good thing and makes you develop.

And today, let's figure out together why people who read can become leaders.

Everyone has the right to read or not to read. No one has the right to criticize those who don’t read. However, some people are skeptical about reading and don’t believe in the power of reading.

There are 2 types of people in this group. Let's look at all kinds of problems and figure out how to solve them.

1. People who've never given reading a chance. No way can these people imagine that reading would have any effect on them. They're not reading books that aren't going to help them with their studies. But they're going to say yes when you ask them if reading is helpful. They're obsessing about the advantages they get from books. They're reading the books that give them such a benefit and solve their problems.

These people must understand that what they read today can affect their future and bring them good luck.

Let's talk about an example that has nothing to do with reading, but perfectly describes the situation.

We all know Steve Jobs. He founded Apple, and millions of people around the world use his products. We know him as a genius, but has he always been one? You might think that he only read business and IT books. However, it is not.

Let's go back in time to Stanford University, where Jobs was a student. Let's look at a student who enjoyed learning calligraphy. And if we go back to our days, we will see a man who, many years later, introduced his knowledge of calligraphy into the interface of the MacBook.

So don't be afraid to read what you don't need right now, or what's not relevant to your studies or work. Any knowledge can come in handy at an unexpected moment.

2. People who have had fierce beliefs in the Power of books but after not seeing themselves getting instant results they give up and their belief is shattered into strong disbelief.

They're aware that reading is great, and they're going to convince you of that. But their motivation to read and their belief in the power of books will disappear when they fail to become geniuses after reading a few books.

Their problem isn’t that their expectations weren’t met, but that their expectations were too high. If you are the same type of person and think that reading a book will turn you into a genius overnight, you’re in for a big disappointment. You may lose interest in books and stop reading them.

Reading math books all day won't make you a mathematician overnight. This goal is too high. Set more realistic goals. Life loves to surprise us. And if you study mathematics for a long time, read books on it, and practice, then you can become a mathematician. Only with correct and patient reading, luck comes to these people.

To sum up, people should change the way they think. To become people who like to read different things and are not fixated on momentary results. Otherwise, they will lose many opportunities and knowledge.

They must start with small steps. Every month, read a book on a topic unfamiliar to them. By stepping out of their comfort zone every month, tomorrow they will be able to overcome a mountain that once seemed impossible.
