Section 1
In a box filled with various toys, there was a spinning top and a small ball. The spinning top spoke to the ball and asked, “Since we both live in this box, should we get married?” However, the ball, who was dressed in a fancy leather outfit and believed she was just as important as any other young lady, didn’t even bother to answer.
The following day, the little boy who owned the toys arrived. He painted the top with bright red and yellow colors and put a shiny nail in the center. When the top spun around, it looked absolutely fantastic!
The spinning top excitedly said to the ball, “Hey, look at me! What do you think now? Should we become engaged? We would make a perfect match; you bounce, and I twirl. We would be the happiest duo ever!”
“Oh really? Do you really think so?" replied the ball. “Maybe you don’t know that my parents were fancy leather shoes, and I have a special cork from Spain inside me.”
“Yes, but I’m actually made of sturdy mahogany,” proudly stated the top. “The skilled craftsman, the major, personally crafted me using his very own lathe. He finds it really fun to shape wooden objects.”
“Is that really true?” inquired the ball.
“I swear on all the spinning I’ll ever do,” declared the top, “if I’m not telling you the absolute truth.”
“You’re quite good at expressing yourself,” remarked the ball. “However, I can’t accept your proposal. I’m actually almost engaged to a swallow. Whenever I soar up in the sky, he peeks out of his nest and asks, ‘Will you?’ and even though I reply silently, ‘Yes,’ to myself, it’s like being halfway engaged. But I promise I’ll never forget you.”
“That won’t be of much use to me,” grumbled the top, and from that moment on, they didn’t speak to each other anymore.
