Section 1
There was a man who had lost his wife, and a woman who had lost her husband. Both the man and the woman had a daughter, with the man being a father to a daughter, and the woman being a mother to a daughter. The two girls knew each other and decided to take a walk together. Later, they went to the woman's house.
The woman addressed the daughter of the man: "Please relay to your father that I wish to marry him, as a result, you will have the opportunity to bathe in milk and drink wine every morning, but my daughter will only be able to bathe in water and drink water."
The young lady returned to her residence and informed her father about the woman's words.
"I am uncertain of my course of action. Although marriage brings happiness, it can also bring distress."
In the end, due to his indecisiveness, he removed his boot and uttered the words, "Here's my boot. Its sole is damaged. Carry it to the attic, hang it on the prominent nail, and fill it with water. He added that if the boot retained the water, he would consider marrying again, but if the water leaked out, he would not pursue marriage.”
The young woman obeyed the instructions given to her, however, the force of the water caused the orifice to close and the footwear to become completely filled. She informed her father of the incident and upon witnessing the situation himself, he approached the widow and courted her, resulting in their marriage.
The following day, upon waking up, the two girls discovered that the man's daughter had access to milk to use for washing herself and wine to drink, while the woman's daughter had only water to use for washing and drinking. The following day, both the man's daughter and the woman's daughter had access to water for washing and drinking. The same was true on the third day, but in addition, the woman's daughter was provided with milk for washing and wine for drinking, this pattern continued for subsequent days.
The stepmother turned into the stepdaughter's adversary and started making her life miserable overnight. In addition, she was jealous of the stepdaughter's kindness and beauty, as her own daughter was unattractive and unpleasant.
During a winter season, when the landscape was completely frozen and blanketed in snow, a woman summoned her stepdaughter after crafting a paper dress, "Please wear this dress and venture into the woods to gather a basket of strawberries for me. I am feeling a strong desire for them."
The girl exclaimed, "Oh my goodness! Winter is not a season for strawberries to grow because the frozen ground and snow have covered everything." "Why do I have to wear this paper dress and go outside? It's extremely cold that one's breath turns into ice, and the dress is so flimsy that the wind can easily blow through it, and the thorns will rip it off my body,".
The stepmother asked, "Are you going to disagree with me?" and instructed, "Leave now, and don't come back until you have collected a basket full of strawberries." She handed her a small piece of tough bread and told her, "You can eat from this all day." However, she was actually thinking, "You will suffer from the cold and hunger outside, and I'll never set eyes on you again."The girl complied and donned the paper dress, then headed out with her basket. As far as the eye could see, there was only snow, and no sign of any greenery. Upon entering the woods, she spotted a petite dwelling where three tiny dwarfs were peeking out. She offered a friendly greeting and softly tapped on the door.
They shouted, "Come in," and she went into the room and sat down on the bench by the stove to warm herself and eat her breakfast.
"Share some with us as well," requested the dwarfs.
With pleasure," she replied, and split her bread in half, offering one portion to the other person.
They inquired, "Why are you here in the woods during winter, and why are you wearing such a light dress?"
"I have to collect a basket of strawberries and I'm not allowed to leave until I have them," she replied.
After finishing her bread, she was given a broom and instructed, "Clear the snow next to the rear entrance."
Upon her departure, the three diminutive individuals inquired amongst themselves, "What might we offer her in recognition of her graciousness, benevolence, and willingness to share her bread with us?"
The initial speaker stated, "I bestow upon her the blessing that each passing day she will become increasingly attractive."
The second speaker expressed, "I bestow upon her the power that whenever she speaks, gold coins will descend from her mouth."
The exact words spoken by the third person were, "I concede that a king will come and marry her."
