Section 1
A man had seven sons and desired a daughter, but despite his wishes, he did not have one until his wife gave him hope for another child. Eventually, his wife gave birth to a girl, fulfilling his desire for a daughter. They were very happy, but unfortunately, the newborn was frail and undersized, and due to her delicate condition, she had to be urgently baptized.
The father instructed one of his sons to hurry to the well and fetch water for the baptism. The other six brothers accompanied him. As they all desired to be the first to draw water from the well, the jug accidentally fell into it. They were all left standing there, unsure of what to do, and not a single one of them was brave enough to return home.
"When they did not come back, the father became impatient and exclaimed, 'Those godless boys must have forgotten the purpose of their errand because they were playing.'" Worried that his daughter would pass away without receiving the baptism, he shouted furiously, "I wish those boys would transform into ravens!"
As soon as he uttered those words, he heard a fluttering noise over his head and upon looking up, he witnessed seven coal-black ravens flying away into the distance.
The parents were unable to revoke the curse, and though they were sorrowful about losing their seven sons, they found solace in the fact that their beloved little daughter grew healthier each day and blossomed into a stunning young lady.
Her parents made sure not to mention her brothers to her for a considerable amount of time. One day, she unintentionally eavesdropped on a conversation about herself. They mentioned that she was attractive, but they also attributed the misfortune of her seven brothers to her. This caused her immense distress, and she approached her parents to inquire about the existence of her brothers and their fate.
Her parents could no longer keep the truth hidden and revealed that it was the fate decided by heaven, and that her birth had been a mere innocent reason behind the unfortunate incident. Nonetheless, the thought burdened the girl's conscience every day, and she became convinced that she had to find a way to make amends for her brothers.
She was unable to find any rest or peace until she left secretly and embarked on a journey to the vast world, determined to locate her brothers and free them, regardless of the price she had to pay. She took only a small ring as a keepsake from her parents, a loaf of bread for sustenance, a small jug of water for hydration, and a tiny chair for when she grew weary during her journey.
She continued walking, covering a great distance - so much so that she reached the farthest end of the world. She eventually reached the sun, but the heat was too intense and terrifying, as it was known to devour little children. She quickly fled from there and ran towards the moon, but it was too frigid and equally eerie and malevolent, when the moon saw her, it exclaimed, "I smell the scent of human flesh."
She hastened away and eventually reached the stars. They welcomed her kindly and each one was seated on its own little chair. As the morning star appeared, it handed her a chicken bone and said, "You cannot open the glass mountain without this chicken bone, and your brothers are imprisoned inside the glass mountain."
The girl took the chicken bone, wrapped it carefully in a cloth, and continued on her journey until she arrived at the glass mountain. The door was locked, and she reached for the chickenbone, but when she opened the cloth, she found that it was empty. She had lost the gift of the good stars.
