The Angel
“When a kind child dies, God sends an angel from the sky. The angel hugs the child and spreads their beautiful white wings. Together, they fly over the child's favorite places. The angel collects colorful flowers on the way and brings them to God. In heaven, these flowers bloom more beautifully than on earth. God holds the flowers close to His heart and kisses the flower that He liked most of all. This special flower gets a beautiful voice as a gift. With its new voice, the flower sings and joins the chorus in Heaven.”
An angel from God carried a child to heaven and told the child these words. The child felt like they were in a nice dream.
The angel asked, "Which flowers do you want to take to heaven?" There was a beautiful rose. Someone had broken its stem, and the rose hung sadly.
The child wanted to take the sad rosebush to heaven so it could bloom in God's garden. The angel kissed the rose and the child, and the child started to wake up. The angel collected beautiful flowers.
The child said that they had taken a lot of flowers, but the angel didn't say anything and didn't fly to heaven. It was night, and they stayed in a quiet town. The angel flied above a small street where there was garbage. The angel noticed parts of a broken flowerpot and some soil that stayed undamaged thanks to the roots of a nearly dried flower. This little flower had been thrown into rubbish.
The angel decided to take the broken flowerpot and the dried flower. During their flight, the angel began to tell the story.
“In a small street, there lived a boy in a basement. He was always sick and could only move around with something to rely on. Sometimes sun came to the boy’s room and warmed the room for about half an hour. During those short moments the boy sat there and simply enjoyed the sun. He watched the sunlight through his fingers, imagining he was in a forest. One day, a neighbor's son brought him a fresh branch with green leaves from a beech tree. The boy had never seen the green before. He hold the branch above his head and imagined being in a beautiful forest where the sun was shining and the birds were singing. One spring day, the neighbor's boy gave him a bunch of flowers. In that bunch, there was a special flower with its roots still attached. The sick boy planted it in a flowerpot next to his bed. It was surprising but the flower grew and bloomed every year. It became the boy's dear garden, and he took care of it, watering it regularly. The flower was always in the boy's dreams. It made him happy even after he died. After the death of the boy, the flower was thrown away with the garbage when new people came to live there. But an angel and a child noticed it and kept it because of the joy it had brought to the boy.”
The child asked the angel, "How do you know all of this?"
The angel answered, "Because I was that poor, sick boy who walked with difficulty. I know my own flower anywhere."
The child woke up and saw the angel's happy face. They went to heaven together, where everyone is always happy. God hugged the child, and gave him wings to fly with the angel. God welcomed all the flowers with love, but when He kissed the dried flower, something magical happened—it started singing with the angels next God's special chain. All of them were very happy together.
