Section 1

In the vicinity of a vast woodland lived a woodcutter with his wife. They had only one child, a little girl who was merely three years old. Unfortunately, their financial condition was so dire that they couldn't even afford their basic sustenance, and they were unsure of how they would provide for their child's nourishment.

One morning, the woodcutter, overwhelmed with grief, headed out to the woods to commence his work. As he was in the middle of cutting wood, out of nowhere, a stunning, towering lady with a dazzling crown of stars on her head appeared before him.

The lady addressed him in a gentle voice, "I am the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Baby Jesus. I have noticed your destitution and want. Please bring your child to me. I will take her under my wing, nurture her like my own and provide for her needs."

Complying with the request, the woodcutter fetched his daughter and entrusted her to the care of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who then ascended to the heavens with the child. In her new abode, the child was well-cared for, savoring delectable sweet bread and fresh milk. She was draped in glistening robes made of gold, and the angels took delight in playing with her.

Upon reaching the age of fourteen, the Virgin Mary summoned the young girl and said, "My beloved child, I am going to make a long journey. I entrust to you these keys that unlock the thirteen doors of paradise. Twelve of these doors lead to wondrous and majestic sights, but the key to the thirteenth door is not for you to use. Beware of opening it, for it will lead to sorrow and misfortune."

The young girl promised to comply and honor the Virgin Mary's instructions. After the departure of the Blessed Virgin, she began to explore the abodes of the kingdom of heaven. Every day, she opened one of the twelve doors and was greeted by an apostle shining with radiant light. She marveled at the grandeur and resplendence of each dwelling, and the angels that accompanied her shared in her jubilation.

Having explored all twelve of the doors, the forbidden door was the only one that remained, and an overwhelming curiosity overtook the young girl. She confided in the angels, "I shall not fully unlock the door, nor shall I enter, but I will only unlock it so that we may glimpse what lies beyond."

The little angels dissented, cautioning her, "Oh no, that would be a sin. The Blessed Virgin Mary has strictly forbidden it, and such an act may undoubtedly lead to your sorrow and misery."

Despite their warning, the young girl remained silent, yet the fervent desire in her heart persisted. the feeling of interest gnawed away at her, causing great agony and restlessness.

One fateful day, when all the angels had gone out, the girl entertained the notion, "I am entirely unaccompanied now. What if I sneak a peek? No one will ever know."

The girl took the key and, without a second thought, inserted it into the lock and turned it. The forbidden door creaked open, revealing the Holy Trinity in a blaze of fire and radiance. She gazed upon the wondrous sight with awe and fascination. However, emboldened by her temerity, she extended her finger toward the brilliance, causing it to transform into pure gold. Overwhelmed with dread and anxiety, she hastily shut the door and fled in terror.

No matter what she did, the fear lingered within her, tormenting her relentlessly. Her heart continued to race and refused to be pacified. Despite her repeated efforts to wash and rub it off, the gold on her finger remained stubbornly fixed.

Shortly after, the Virgin Mary returned from her journey and summoned the girl to return the keys of heaven. As the girl handed over the keys, the Virgin looked into her eyes and asked, "Haven't you opened the thirteenth door?"

"No," said the girl.

The Virgin Mary laid her hand on the girl's heart and felt how it was pounding heavily. She understood that the girl had disobeyed her order and opened the forbidden door. She then asked, "You didn’t open it for sure?"

"No," said the girl for the second time.

Then the Virgin Mary noticed the girl's finger that had turned golden from touching the heavenly fire, and she was sure that the girl had disobeyed her order. She asked for the third time, "You did not open the thirteenth door, did you?"

"No," said the girl for the third time.

"You have not followed my command and you have also been dishonest. You do not deserve of being in heaven anymore."
