Hovhannes Tumanyan

Hovhannes Tumanyan (February 19, 1869 – March 23, 1923) was an Armenian poet, writer, translator, and prominent literary and public figure. He holds the esteemed title of being the national poet of Armenia.
 
Tumanyan was a prolific writer, producing poems, quatrains, ballads, novels, fables, as well as critical and journalistic articles. His literary creations predominantly embraced the style of realism, often delving into the ordinary lives of people during his era. Tumanyan gained widespread recognition in Armenian society for his elegantly simple yet profoundly poetic works.
 
Tumanyan's literary legacy has transcended the pages of his writings, inspiring numerous adaptations in the form of films
and animated features. Additionally, his works served as the foundation for operatic compositions, including "Anush" (1912) by Armen Tigranian and "Almast" (1930) by Alexander Spendiaryan.
